MANILA, Philippines - The search for the next Filipino boxing superstar continues in the form of the “Manny Pacquiao Presents: Blow by Blow” program to be aired weekly over TV5.
It’s a rebirth of the same boxing program on television that featured Pacquiao’s early days as a professional fighter, when he was a young, skinny and hungry.
The new program is a co-production between TV5 and Blow by Blow Promotions. It involves monthly boxing events to be staged in key cities around the country.
The bouts will be aired every Sunday at 2 p.m. beginning on Dec. 13.
It actually runs on a tournament format with five categories on tap: flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight and welterweight, according to Sports5 head Chot Reyes.
Reyes said Pacquiao is lending his hand every step of the way.
“The re-launching of ‘Blow by Blow’ was Manny’s idea. He believes that with support and exposure, many young Filipino boxers can make it big,” said Reyes.
