MANILA, Philippines - Globalport star Terrence Romeo and Gilas coach Tab Baldwin have been invited as special guests when the Philippine Secondary Schools Basketball Championship (PSSBC) Jumbo Plastic Linoleum Cup kicks off Dec. 13 at the San Beda College gym.
PSSBC chairman Jimmy dela Cruz said the opening ceremony will be short and simple but the presence of Romeo and Baldwin hopes to inspire the young players seeing action in the event.
“Romeo is one of the rising stars in the PBA and his presence in the opening ceremony will certainly be an inspiration to all players,” said Dela Cruz. “I’m certain Romeo can motivate these high school players to play at the highest level and instill to them the importance of patience and discipline.”
The exciting guard has proven his worth not only in the PBA but also in the international arena when he helped the Baldwin-mentored Gilas Pilipinas finish runner-up in the FIBA Asia Championship in Changsha, China last September.
Baldwin is also expected to deliver a message to the coaches and players as well in the event also sponsored by Rain or Shine, Freego, Blackwater Sports, MEC Networks, Dickies Underwear, Ironcon Builders and Hapee Toothpaste.
