MANILA, Philippines – Philippine featherweight champion Randy Braga of the Elorde stable faces Jilo Merlin of General Santos in a scheduled 10-round bout as boxing returns tonight at the Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Center on Sucat Road, Parañaque.
The bout is a big test for Braga who is scheduled to fight early next year for the Orient- Pacific Boxing Federation crown now held by Japanese Ryo Takenaka.
Merlin is a veteran of 39 bouts while Braga has had 18.
The supporting card of the event presented by businessman-sportsman Johnny Elorde, features Jeffrey Francisco, also from the Elorde stable, against Eric Panza of Baguio for 10 rounds.
One eight-rounder and five six-rounders are on tap for the preliminaries while the curtain raisers feature three four-rounders.
