MANILA, Philippines - Mars Pucay recovered his touch at the back to fire a three-under 69 and salvage a share of third place in the PGM Tiara Championship won by American Casey O’Toole at the Tiara Melaka Golf and Country Club in Malaysia yesterday.
Pucay, who led in the first round but slowed down with a 70 in the next and floundered with a 74 on the third day, hit four birdies to negate a missed-green bogey at the back for a closing 33 and a 69.
He wound up with a 279 and took home $2,631.
O’Toole saved his best for last and scorched the par-72 layout with an eight-under 64 for a 267 to run away with an 11-stroke romp over fellow American Sejun Yoon, who had a 278 after a 71.
Finland’s Janne Kaske also carded a 71 to join Pucay at third.
