Realtors nail first win, repulse Innovators

MANILA, Philippines – Former champion Sta. Lucia Land used a big run in the second half to overpower Power Innovation Philippines, 95-88, and even its card at 1-1 in the fifth DELeague basketball tournament at the Marikina Sports Center in Marikina Thursday night.

Eluid “Eloy” Poligrantes fired 29 points and hauled down four rebounds and made four assists while Victor Jean scored 22 markers as they powered the Realtors to the victory.

Poligrantes hit back-to-back baskets to shatter the 40-all count with 1:38 remaining in the first half then the Realtors, with former PBA players Gerry Esplana, Francis Adriano and Warren Ybañez chipping in clutch baskets, sustained their charge en route to victory.

Kazim Mirza paced the Power Innovators with 25 points.

Meanwhile, Metro Pacific Toll Corp. dealt Mindanao Agilas its second defeat as it fashioned out an 83-76 victory in the other game.

Byron Villarias topscored for the Road Warriors with 18 points while Raul Suyud added 11 points and 11 boards.

Choi Ignacio and Chris Concepcion made 17 and 15 points, respectively, for the Agilas.

The league takes a break this weekend and resumes Nov. 3 with Austen Morris Associates and Philippine Christian U clashing in the first game and newcomer Flydragons Logistics battling it out with Far Eastern U-NRMF in the other match.
