PPS-PEPP jr netfest resumes in Negros

MANILA, Philippines - The Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala regional age group tennis circuit presented by Technifibre swings to Negros Occidental this month with a series of tournaments beginning with Pontevedra leg firing off today at the St. Michael Tennis Courts in Pontevedra.

Tracy Llamas and Kiana de Asis brace for a series of duels as the La Carlota bets see action in three categories, including the premier girls’ 18-and-under section of the Group 3 tournament, which also features Mariz Singson, Amor Decendario, Valerie Desoyo, Jewel Milliam, Erica Sevilla and Dorelle Laguda.

Llamas and De Asis are also tipped to figure prominently in the 14- and 16-U divisions of the four-day event sponsored by the country’s leading pawnshop, remittance and claim center and hosted by Fr. Angelo Jojie Ansola and Mayor Jose Maria Alonso.

“Together with all the LGUs, we thank Palawan Pawnshop for making another stop here in Pontevedra. This is not only a boost to our tennis development program but also a shot in the arm for our youth in terms of exposure and experience,” said Mayor Alonso.

The Pontevedra leg also kicks off a month-long tournament in Negros following a successful swing in Mindanao last month.

Up next is the Masskara Tennis Festival on Oct. 15-19 before the country’s leading players slug it out for top honors in the Palawan Pawnshop Pintaflores Festival Open Tennis Championship slated Oct. 27-Nov. 2 at the San Carlos Tennis Center in San Carlos City.

“We always believe there are so many untapped talents in Negros and nearby regions and provinces and by providing this series of tournaments, we hope to discover, train and develop future members of the national pool,” said Palawan Pawnshop COO Bobby Castrol.
