INDIANAPOLIS – Anthony Davis had 18 points and eight rebounds to lead the New Orleans Pelicans to a 110-105 victory over the Indiana Pacers in the preseason opener for both teams Saturday night (Sunday in Manila).
Davis scored all of his points in the first half, shot 8-of-17, and was limited to 15 minutes.
PELICANS: Eric Gordon returned to his home state and scored 16 points. ... Luke Babbitt scored 16 points off the bench.
PACERS: Monta Ellis, who averaged 18.9 points last season, only scored two in 21 minutes. ... Paul George had 18 points and five rebounds.
STAR WATCH: George got off to a hot start with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting in the first quarter, including two 3-pointers and a dunk.
MIDSEASON FORM: Rookie Myles Turner had two big blocks against Bryce Dejean-Jones when the Pelicans rookie drove to the basket twice midway through the second half.
UP NEXT: Indiana visits Detroit on Tuesday (this coming Wednesday). New Orleans will face Atlanta in Jacksonville, Fla. on Friday (Saturday).
