MANILA, Philippines - The Bandits, the Wolves and expansion team the Tigers fashioned out similar lopsided victories to kick off their respective bids in the ABP’s Philippine Tackle Football League at the Philsports Complex track oval in Pasig recently.
The four-time champion Bandits used their experience to dominate the new-look but undermanned Knights, scoring a 58-0 victory in PTFL’s first game at its new home venue.
Not to be outdone, the defending champion Wolves also pounced on the newly-formed Renegades side, a combination of veterans from the Rebels and the Juggernauts. The Season 5 titlists banked on rookie QB Luke Zetazate and veteran Ivan Klaric and their superb firepower to blast the Wolves, 61-6.
The Tigers, on the other hand, cashed in on the depleted second-year Vanguards, who showed up with their aces and foreign counterparts, pulling off a 30-6 victory in the last game.
The Tigers, the new force in black and yellow, made their presence felt early, coming through with quick scores and trick plays en route to victory in the event sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission, Skippys Bar and Grill and The Philippine STAR.
