Pinoys sweep pole positions in Asian karting

MANILA, Philippines - Filipino karters clinched all the pole positions led by Jacob Ang of Eagle Cement, Vrei-AR Suba of Kart Plaza Racing Team and Zach David of Formula-E Racing in a combined show of power in the Asian Region after the Qualifying Heats yesterday in the second leg of the 2015 Asian Karting Open Championships at the Carmona Racetrack in Brgy. Bangkal, Carmona, Cavite.

Ang appeared headed for his second straight triumph after topping the Formula 125 Open Jr. class, Suba captured the No.1 spot in the Shifter KZ Class while David takes the pole position in the Asian Mini-ROK class of this prestigious annual series sanctioned and approved by the world governing Commission Internationale de Karting- Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (CIK-FIA) and sponsored by Petron, Petron Blaze 100 Euro 4, Petron XCS, Petron Ultron, Petron Xtra, Petron Sprint, Magnolia Pure Water and Yokohama the official tires.

Ang finished only third in the first qualifying heat but bounced back to rule the last two to claim the No. 1 spot in the grid with two top young aces Flynn Jackes of KartMaster Drakar Racing Team and former Cadet Karter Tai Zulberti of CityKart behind him.

 Suba bagged the top spot in the Shifter KZ class and sees tough challenge from Michael Jordan, Gabe Cabrera, William Tan and Lean Linao for the plum.

David, last year’s Cadet Karter of the Year, claims the pole position in the Asian Mini-ROK division after finishing fourth in the first Qualifying Heat, topped the second and ended third in the last Qualifying Heat.

In the Formula Cadet division, Inigo Anton of Edgesport-Yokohama Team will be at the pole followed by Joaquin Garrido, Constantin Reisch, Kristine Yokoyama, Maverick Corpuz, Joharry Victor Suba and Miguel Angeles of Cebu.

The other two who also claimed the pole for today’s pre-final races are Jerry Choi in the ROK Sr. class and Judy Cometa in the Formula SL Ladies Class.
