MANILA, Philippines - It will be Troy Togonon versus Mart Fullo for the 18 years old boys title of the 2015 Dumalag National Juniors Age Group Tennis tournament held at the Dumalag Tennis Court.
Togonon ousted Palarong Pambansa campaigner Justin Alba, 8-3, while Fullo sent Lester de Ocampo to retirement due to leg cramps.
Togonon and Alba, the only player with national exposures, fiercely fought for control of the game. Togonon, however, proved steadier in the end to preserve the win and arrange a title confrontation against Fullo.
Alba forged a title showdown against Lester de Ocampo in the 16 years boys after disposing of their separate rivals earlier in the day.
Alba eliminated Joshua Feca and De Ocampo sent home Troy Togonon to set the title match.
Early morning downpour rained out the 10 unisex and 12-under boys and girls, forcing tournament director and national coach Tom Falcis to transfer the matches to a nearby covered court.
“Rain didn’t stop. We had no choice but to transfer to other venues to finish the tournament as scheduled,” said Falcis assisted by former Palarong Pambansa veteran Ronilo Gialogo.
PSC commissioner Salvador Andrada arrived last Wednesday to award the medals to the winners in different age categories.
