MANILA, Philippines - The Highlands Ladies Cup marks another year of fun yet highly competitive tournament next month with the organizing Tagaytay Highlands Ladies Chapter lining up a grand staging to highlight the event’s 10th year on Sept. 26 at the Tagaytay Midlands Golf Club.
A full-packed field is expected to join the 18-hole tournament, which features a mix of players and guests from various sectors and the event staking big prizes in various categories.
Last year’s low net champion Kim Chang Yeon and low gross titlist Joey Solis are tipped to lead the cast in the tournament to be played under the System 36 scoring format.
Abby Lapid, who shot a gross 82 for a net 71, is also expected to defend her ladies crown along with last year’s runner-up Louise Catherine Borja and the top finishers in the other divisions.
They include Group A winner Ruel de Castro and runner-up Joel Ignacio, Group B titlist Andy Sanchez and second placer Edwin Baraoidan and Group C titlist Eddie Tan and runner-up Rafael Roel.
Auto Nation Group Inc., W Group Inc. and Pacific Online are the event’s Diamond sponsors. Other backers are Platinum sponsor Security Bank, SM Prime Holdings as Silver sponsor and Parola Maritime Agency Corp., Willie Vergara, First Life Financial Insurance and H&E Mfg. Corp. as Bronze sponsors.
As in its past staging, top prizes will be up for grabs in various categories of the tournament, also held to foster camaraderie and friendship among the participants, including executives and corporate bigwigs as well as celebrities and guests from the government and private sectors.
The event also serves as a fund-raiser for THLC’s favorite charity, the Sisters of Mary and the Boys and Girls Town in Silang, Cavite with the mission of education for employment.
