MANILA, Philippines - Xavier School-A dealt De La Salle-Zobel its first loss via a 43-27 rout as it grabbed the Group A lead in the Small Basketeers Philippines (SBP) tournament organized by the Best Center and sponsored by Milo over the weekend.
Xavier remained as one of only two unbeaten teams in the group, the other being idle Chiang Kai Shek College at 2-0.
DLS-Z fell to 1-1.
Ateneo-B (2-1) clipped Notre Dame, 47-29, but Notre Dame regrouped to beat St. Mary’s College (0-2), 34-31, for its first win in three games.
In Group B, La Salle Greenhills-A joined unbeaten Marist in the lead with two wins as it demolished Ateneo-A (2-1), 58-34.
In the Passerelle Division of this twin tournament for kids, Adamson University trounced Lourdes School of Mandaluyong, 84-36, to join LSGH-A on top of Group A with back-to-back wins.
In Group B, Nazareth School of National University marched to its third straight triumph with a 76-59 romp over LSGH-B (0-2) to keep the lead.
