MANILA, Philippines - Stuck on the bench in crutches as La Salle failed to stop Ateneo’s perfect flight to back-to-back UAAP women’s volleyball crown, skipper Ara Galang is charging this bitter episode to experience and hoping for a chance to return to action and aim for redemption next year.

Galang, the Lady Spikers’ top scorer and leader, missed the finale after tearing her ACL, MCL and medial meniscus in their stepladder semis rubbermatch with National U and would need eight months to recover.

She helplessly watched as the unbeaten Lady Eagles trounced her team twice, 25-18, 25-19, 25-19, in the opener and 25-22, 25-17, 25-23, in Saturday’s Game Two to sweep their way to the title.

“They (Ateneo) played well. Deserving naman sila (They deserve it). Pero may next year pa naman (We’d have next year),” said Galang.

The ace from Angeles University Foundation will have one year of eligibility left and she hopes to get back into shape for the final ride.

“Everything happens for a reason naman. Naniniwala ako may plan si Lord for me and the team (I believe God has other plans for me and DLSU),” she said.

Coach Ramil de Jesus is also moving on.

“The season is all part of history and our task now is to prepare for next season,” he said.
