MANILA, Philippines - Top volleyball action rolls to Quezon for the first offering of Philippine Superliga’s Spike on Tour this year.
Quezon Province Gov. David “Jay-Jay” Suarez is expected to lead his constituents in welcoming four teams in the women’s division which will compete in a pair of games in the PSL All-Filipino Conference before another sellout crowd tentatively set in the third week of April at the Quezon Convention Center.
Aside from the games, organizers have also lined up several side events like mall tour, meet and greet, outreach program, volleyball clinic, press conference, motorcade, fellowship night and a men’s exhibition match where the province’s best spikers will get a chance to play along with some of the current crop of Superliga players.
“This is the first time for us to host an event like this and we couldn’t wait to open our doors for the Superliga,” said Suarez during the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement recently.
“Bringing Superliga in our province is in line with our sports development program. Our province is already buzzing with excitement. We are all looking forward to an action-packed weekend.”
PSL president Ramon “Tats” Suzara said the event would further boost Quezon Province’s sports development program and bring the country’s premier inter-club volleyball league closer to volleyball fans, especially in the Southern Tagalog region.
“We’re trying to reach out to as many fans as possible,” Suzara said. “That’s why we’re making sure that we hold Spike on Tour in places with vibrant sports program like Quezon Province.”
Also present during the signing were Sports Core chairman Ariel Paredes, Quezon Province sports director Jonas Guiao and executive assistant Webster Letargo.
