MANILA, Philippines - More than 1,500 participants are expected to compete in the eighth Prima Pasta Badminton Championships, which starts Feb. 28 at the Powersmash Badminton Courts in Pasong Tamo, Makati City.
To accommodate the big number of entries, the event’s organizing committee chairman Alexander Lim said they have decided to add playdates on March 1, 6, 7 and 8.
In partnership with the Philippine Badminton Association, the annual tournament is part of the Philippine National Ranking System where aspirants in the Open division will earn points that will be the basis for their position in the national ranking.
The tournament, sponsored by Babolat and Smart Communications through MVP Sports Foundation, will feature the men’s doubles and mixed doubles from the Open class to Levels A to G, while the Open division and Levels B to F titles will be disputed in the women’s doubles.
Other backers of the event are Boysen Paints, Morning Star Milling Corp.., Mabz Builders, ILO Construction and Monolith Construction.
