MANILA, Philippines - Sante Barley, a leading distributor of organic wellness products, is hosting a rare three-in-one racing event (Pure Barley Duathlon, Whey Barley Criterium and Barley Pure Time Trial) Feb. 15 at the Clark International Speedway in Clark, Pampanga.
Billed as the Sante Barley Domination, the event will feature duathletes as well as cyclists at the 4-km racing circuit venue.
Organized by BikeKing headed by Raul Cuevas, the duathlon, which starts at 6 a.m., covers a 4K run, 40K bike and 4K run.
Staked for Elite participants is P40,000, with the male and female champion getting P10,000.The event is supported by GU, Garmin, Pure Barley, Whey Barley, Barley Pure, Fontana Leisure Parks, SPIN.ph, Multisports.ph, SBR.ph and Raceday.
Top three finishers in the different age group categories will be get medals, trophies and gift packs. The country’s top duathlete Robeno Javier will be challenged by Spain’s Eneko Elosegui in the male elite category while Mary Pauline Fornea, Aria Crawford and Francesca Diane Gutierrez will slug it out in the distaff side.
Meanwhile, cyclists will have their own event in the Whey Barley Criterium in the morning and a time trial in the afternoon. Male riders will compete in three categories – advance (Cat 2), intermediate (Cat 3) and novice (Cat 4) – while the female participants compete in the Open class.
The criterium race, which starts at 9 a.m., will cover 45 minutes and one lap while the Barley Pure ITT race set at 1 p.m. covers 30 kilometers.
Pick up of race kits for duathletes is Feb. 14, 1.-7 p.m. at the Clark International Speedway and 4-5:45 a.m. on race day. Criterium participants may get their kits 6 a.m.-10 a.m. on Sunday while ITT competitors may get their up to 1 p.m.
