MANILA, Philippines -- Ronda Pilipinas 2015 presented by LBC has teamed up with TV5 as its official television partner for the second straight year.
Moe Chulani, Ronda executive director, said TV5 will show highlights of reach stages including the Visayas and Luzon qualifying round after a meeting with TV5 Sports and Digital5 head Chot Reyes and Sports Manager Vitto Lazatin.
"Yes, TV5 is the official television partner of Ronda Pilipinas and it is our honor to have them on board for the second year in a row," said Chulani.
Chulani said highlights of the Visayas qualifier, which is scheduled Feb. 11-13 starting in Dumaguete and ending in Cadiz, will be aired on Feb. 15 at 11:45 p.m. while the Luzon leg, set on Feb. 16 and 17 in Tarlac and Antipolo, will be televised on Feb. 18 at 11:30 p.m.
Highlights of Stages one and two of the championship round will be shown the night of the race on Feb. 22 at 11:45 p.m. while highlights of the last six stages from Feb. 23 to 27will be shown at 11:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, government-owned Sports Radio 918 will broadcast pedal-by-pedal account of Ronda for the fourth straight year.
Ronda real time updates will also be posted on Ronda's Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/RondaPilipinas, and Twitter account, @rondapilipinas.
"Wether it's on TV, radio, newspapers and social media, the public will now have easy access to Ronda," said Chulani.
Ronda unfurls with a three-stage Visayas Qualifying Leg set Feb. 11-13in the Negros island where 54 slots (50 elite and four juniors) will be staked and will continue with the two-stage Luzon qualifier slated Feb. 16and 17 in Tarlac and Antipolo City where 34 spots (30 elite, four juniors) will be up for grabs.
The 88 Visayas and Luzon qualifiers will then join last year's champion Reimon Lapaza of Butuan, the nine-man national team spearheaded by Mark Galedo and a composite European team in the Championship round slated Feb. 22-27 unfolding in Greenfield City in Sta. Rosa and ending in mountaintop Baguio.
Visayas' Stage One will start at the Negros Oriental Prov'l Capitol and end in Sipalay City Plaza (172.7 kilometers for elite, 120.2 kms for juniors); Stage Two will start at the Bacolod City Plaza and end at the Bacolod Government Center via Don Salvador Benedicto and San Carlos (158 kms for elite, 110.5 kms for juniors) on Feb. 12 ; and Stage Three will open at the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol and end in Cadiz City (123 kms for elite and juniors).
The race is being supported by major sponsors the Manny V. Pangilinan Sports Foundation and Petron and minor sponors Cannondale, Standard Insurance, Tech1 Corp., Maynilad and NLEX and sanctioned by PhilCycling under Cavite Congressman Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino with TV5 and Sports Radio as media partners.
