MANILA, Philippines - The jungolf season officially begins today with the ICTSI-JGFP National Inter-School Championship finals firing off at the Player course of the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
The 36-hole event backed mainly by the International Container Terminal Services, Inc. Foundation and the Jungolf Foundation of the Philippines in coordination with the Philippine Golf Foundation is the culmination of a six-month series of eliminations in various courses around the country and will feature the bulk of qualifiers from Luzon facing the challenge of a motley contingent from Visayas and Mindanao.
Finalists from Assumption College, Ateneo, La Salle-Zobel, St. Paul’s Pasig, Immaculate Concepcion Academy, Centre of International Education, Poveda, La Salle-Taft, La Salle-Greenhills, Learning Links Academy, Brent, Xavier, College of St. Benilde, University of Santo Tomas, Lyceum of the Philippines University, University of the Philippines, OB Montessori, La Salle-Canlubang, San Miguel Elementary School, Laurel Spring School, Philippine Science, Oro Christian, Blooming Field Academy, Japan School Manila, Don Bosco Mandaluyong, St. Michael Academy, Casa Real Montessori, St. Pedro Poveda, Makati Hope Christian School, San Beda Alabang, Hope Christian Academy, Fountain International, Living Heritage, MGC New Life Christian Academy and School of Tomorrow are seeing action.
They will be contending for the team and individual awards up for grabs in the Seniors, Juniors, Midgets 1, Midgets 2, Girls 1, Girls 2, Girls divisions and three classes each in the boys and girls development competitions.
Focus will be on the seniors battle of the tourney also supported by Martin Lorenzo, Golf Depot, Inquirer Golf and Orchard Golf and Country Club featuring college schools bannered by Rupert Zaragosa (Lyceum), AR Ramos (La Salle) and JP de Claro (University of the Philippines).
