MANILA, Philippines – Topex Robinson has moved from Mendiola to Intramuros.
Months after resigning as coach of the San Sebastian Stags, Robinson and Lyceum have recently both agreed in principle to handle the coaching reins of the Pirates starting next year completing his leap from one NCAA school to another.
Robinson though will officially take over Lyceum, a team out to make a big stride in Season 91 after failing to make the Final Four in its first three seasons in the league, in February, according to reports.
"Not yet signed but it principle, it's already agreed upon," a source told The STAR Tuesday.
Under Robinson, the Stags have made the finals three years ago but were swept by eventual champions the San Beda Lions.
In 2012, Robinson resigned midway the season to focus on being an assistant coach at Alaska Milk in the PBA and returned the year after and steered San Sebastian to a surprise Final Four appearance despite losing his three stars – Calvin Abueva, Ian Sangalang and Ronald Pascual.
This season, the Stags went on a downward spiral and finished at a disappointing eighth place with a mediocre 5-13 (win-loss) record.
With Lyceum, Robinson hopes to have a fresh start.
