The rise of Kobe Paras

There was a Kobe other than Bryant who made headlines in LA. Kobe Paras was hyped as the future of Philippine basketball after he was recruited by UCLA Bruins, the winningest school in the US NCAA history.

Paras, who got his basketball genes from his father Benjie, the only rookie-MVP in the PBA history, will star for the LA Cathedral High School for the next two years before suiting up for the Bruins in 2016.

He became a YouTube sensation after dunking on LeBron James as a 15-year-old high school cager of La Salle Greenhills during the NBA superstar's Nike Tour in the Philippines last year. He followed that up with the slam dunk title in the FIBA U18 3x3 World Cup before he went to the US to try his luck.
