MANILA, Philippines - La Salle University is tipped to grab the last seat in the Elite Eight of the Champions League (PCCL) 2014 National Collegiate championship following the sudden withdrawal of Ateneo de Manila.
The Archers will face Jose Rizal U in the step-ladder knockout games of the Luzon-Metro Manila qualifying games.
The Eagles, who were eliminated by eventual champion National U in the UAAP Final Four, begged off amid reports that the team would undergo a major revamp.
Aside from La Salle and JRU, the other teams seeing action are Centro Escolar University, NAASCU and MNCAA champion; University of Perpetual Help, St. Clare and Diliman College.
The cast will be completed after two more regional games set in the first week of November.
The South Luzon-Bicol games will be held Nov. 3-4 at the J.C. Lobredo Coliseum, Naga City. The North-Central Luzon regional games are scheduled Nov. 3-5 at the Lyceum North Western U Gym, in Dagupan.
Already in the the Elite Eight phase are UAAP champion NU, UAAP runner-up Far Eastern U, NCAA titlist San Beda College, NCAA runner-up Arellano U, CESAFI finalists Southwestern University and University of San Carlos and University of Visayas.
