MANILA, Philippines -- Due to an overwhelming clamor from fans, organizers of Allen Iverson’s forthcoming Manila visit have decided to hold a second basketball clinic with no less than the former National Basketball Association (NBA) MVP at the helm.
Still a part of Iverson’s “All In” charity basketball event for the benefit of Gawad Kalinga, a second basketball clinic, this time for adults, will be staged on November 5 at the Mall of Asia Arena a few hours before he takes the floor as coach of the Ball Up Streetball All-Stars, who will banner Team Gawad Kalinga, as they battle Team PCWorx composed of UAAP, lead by MVP Kiefer Ravena of Ateneo, NCAA, and PBA players reinforced by former NBA stars Eddy Curry and DerMarr Johnson.
The clinic will run from 3-5 pm.
“It’s always a privilege for me to go out there and share my love and passion for basketball,” the former top NBA rookie pick said in a telephone interview. “This won’t be just an ordinary basketball clinic, I’ll be sharing with them not just my knowledge in basketball, but also a part of myself. This is my way of saying thank you to my fans who stood by me through the years.”
“Manila, I’ll be seeing you at the MOA Arena on November 5th,” Iverson added.
Iverson’s adult basketball clinic is open to physically fit participants, aged 20 and above. The clinic fee is pegged at Php5,000 inclusive of snacks, t-shirt, certificate, a free basketball clinic ticket for spectators, as well as a free general admission ticket to the main event.
Open registration has already started last October 13 and will run until the 25th. Those interested to sign up may contact PCWorx at (02) 575-1520.
Meanwhile, tickets to the “All In” fundraiser are still available online at www.smtickets.com, all SM Tickets outlets, and select PCWorx branches.
