MANILA, Philippines - Nikki Therese Servando dished out another splendid performance as she powered De La Salle-College of St. Benilde to a “four-peat” conquest in the 90th NCAA women’s badminton tournament at Powerplay in Quezon City recently.
Servando fashioned out a 21-10, 21-14 victory over Mapua’s Denise Estrella in the opening singles to put the Lady Blazers closer to a fourth consecutive crown.
Doubles bets Danielle Pauline Escobar and Angel Oclinaria took care of business on their end, beating Lady Cardinals’ Germaine Mangaliman and Anna Salas, 21-18, 21-11, to clinch it for CSB.
It was another sterling season for Servando, a graduating Hotel and Restaurant Institutional Management who plans to pursue a culinary career at Sofitel Philippine Plaza.
The former Palaro standout from Bacolod also captured the MVP honors for the fourth time and easily won the women’s singles diadem.
The other members of the triumphant CSB women’s squad are Alizandra Candelaria, Grezel Alcuitas, and Mikaela Dayanghirang.
Benilde’s aces in the men’s division – Austin Sangalang, Justine Sullera, Jigo Libiran, Gio Angsico,Nikollas Bellosillo, and Jose Yason – settled for second place behind Letran.
