MANILA, Philippines - Harmie Constantino closed out with a two-under 70 and took the overall crown while Sam Martirez ran away with the Class A plum despite a 78 as the Filipina bets dominated Malaysia 100 Plus Junior golf tournament at the Sabah Golf Club in Malaysia yesterday.
Constantino opened with a 71, slowed down with a 73 but finished strong with a two-under card to pool a 213 and clinch the overall championship in the 54-hole tournament which featured some of the leading players in the region.
Martirez also cruised to victory in Class A with the top ICTSI-backed bet assembling a three-day total of 227 to post a whopping 10-stroke victory over Malaysians Siti Zulaikha Shaari and Tham Soot Viet, who wound up with identical 237s after a 76 and 80, respectively.
Abby Arevalo also turned in a 78 and placed sixth at 239
Sofia Chabon, however, sputtered with a 79 for a 234 and settled for second in Class B won by Malaysian Ahsley Lau Jen Wen, who had a 231 after a 70.
Mikha Fortuna, the other member of Team ICTSI, ran out of holes but rallied with a 73 to salvage third with a 235.
