MANILA, Philippines – South Korean basketball legend Shin Dong Pa and Philippines’ “The Living Legend” Sonny Jaworski are expected to cross path anew but not as on-court rivals when the Changwong LG Sakers play Brgy. Ginebra Kings in an exhibition match on Sept. 9 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Shin and Jaworski have shared memorable battles in the Asian Games back in their primes but forged mutual respect and friendship off the court.
With LG Electronics, the chief backer of the exhibition match, confirming the Korean legend’s visit to the country to grace the Sakers-Kings friendly match, there is much anticipation that Jaworski will also show up to throw support to his former team Brgy. Ginebra.
The Sakers have won their first Korean Basketball League regular season title last summer led by South Korean national team’s naturalized player Moon Tae-Jong. Both the Sakers and the Kings enjoyed the tag as the crowd favorite in their respective leagues and both have shared the distinction of having Chris Alexander as an import.
The Kings, who will play without Gilas players LA Tenorio and Japeth Aguilar, will be using the match as part of their buildup for the coming PBA All-Filipino Cup which is scheduled to open in October.
LG Electronics are giving away free tickets to their loyal customers. Two premium seats (premium tickets) await LG customers who will register online using the sales invoice or official receipt number of the LG product purchased. There will also be free tickets available to the public via their official Facebook page. Fans can register via the ‘LG Sakers vs Ginebra’ registration app bit.ly/lgsakers which is also found in LG Philippines’ official Facebook page.
Tickets may be redeemed on August 30-31 and September 5-7, 2014 in LG Mobile concept stores and Titan stores within Metro Manila. Complete details on ticket redemption will be e-mailed to the registrants.
