Four teams eye V-League lead

MANILA, Philippines - Four top teams, led by title favorites Army and PLDT Home Telpad, clash today in a pair of matches tipped to go down-to-the-wire, marking Week 2 of the Shakey’s V-League Season 11 Open Conference eliminations at The Arena in San Juan.

The star-studded Lady Troopers, seeking to reclaim the crown they won in Season 8, take on the Air Force Raiders at 2 p.m. while the Power Attackers, boasting of some of the league’s aces and rising stars, tangle with the Ateneo Lady Eagles in the 4 p.m. main encounter.

The four squads hurdled their respective opening game matches to share the early lead with idle defending champion Cagayan Valley and National U with the winners moving ahead of the pack in the single round elims of the mid-season conference of the league sponsored by Shakey’s.

It will be power vs power as Army and Air Force are expected to come out in full force in what promises to be a fierce duel between two of the fancied teams in the league backed by Mikasa and Accel.

Rachel Ann Daquis and Jovelyn Gonzaga, who helped deliver the first championship for Far Eastern U in the recent First Conference, will banner Army’s drive for a second win with support to come from MJ Balse and Nene Bautista, both former league MVPs, Jacqueine Alarca, Christine Agno, Ginie Sabas and ace setter Tina Salak.

Games can be viewed live on streaming via www.v-league.ph <http://www.v-league.ph/>  with the Army-Air Force faceoff to be aired on a delayed basis tomorrow at 1 p.m. on GMA News TV Channel. The PLDT Home Telpad-Ateneo tussle will be shown Tuesday.
