MANILA, Philippines - Fil-Japanese Yuka Saso continued to flash top form as she shot a six-under 66 to finish second to Anna Zhou of Palo Alto in the US Girls Juniors Qualifying tournament at the Peach Tree Golf Club in Marysville, California Tuesday.
The 12-year-old Saso, the newest member of Team ICTSI who dominated her bracket in the Jakarta Junior World Championship recently, thus joined teammate Princess Superal in the US Girls Juniors Championship slated July 21-26 at the Forest Highlands Golf Club in Arizona.
Superal, the reigning SEA Games individual gold medalist, bagged the low medal honors in her side of the elims in Missouri last month.
Over at the tougher West Covina, also in California, Sofia Chabon, another Team ICTSI mainstay, struggled with a four-over 76 for a joint fifth place finish but still gained a berth in the tournament proper.
Chabon also topped the Junior World qualifier in Menifee, California recently to likewise nail a spot in the San Diego championship.
Failing to make the grade were Sam Martirez, Mika Fortuna and Abby Arevalo.
