MANILA, Philippines -- GlobalPort Batang Pier will have the golden chance to tab a 'game-changer' player after drawing the no.1 overall pick in the next season's rookie draft.
The Batang Pier, who only managed to win a total of seven games in the past three conferences, are hoping to get an impact player from draft that is expected to be headlined by Fil-Italian hotshot Chris Banchero, Gilas Cadet players Kevin Alas, Garvo Lanete and former San Sebastian Stag Ronald Pascual among others.
GlobalPort, which had two lottery balls or 67 percent of landing the top overall pick, won the Draft Lottery on Tuesday night at the Mall of Asia Arena before Game 1 of the PBA Governors' Cup Finals between Grand Slam-seeking San Mig Coffee Mixers and Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
The Elasto Painters, which owns Meralco Bolts' rights from previous transaction, will pick second in the coming draft set on Aug. 24.
