DCP Directors’ Cup dartfest under way

MANILA, Philippines - Players and club managers in Metro Manila have organized a series of dart competitions starting today at the NU Grill, Ambassador Hotel, along Mabini St., Malate.

Called the DCP Directors’ Cup, today’s event will have a P20,000 prize for winners. It will also feature the induction of newly electec directors of the Darts Council of the Philippines led by its president, Logie Estacio.

The other DCP officials are Errol Magtubo, vice president; Reggie Francisco, secretary general; and Bel Umali, Aldo Angeles, Sam Cadiente, Buddy Mesias, Toto Meniolas, Leo Buizon, Mike Caber and Jake Ubaldo, directors.

The other dart competitions are the Cubie Ballesca Cup on Wednesday, featuring the 5K Seniors Classified Doubles and the 10K Open Classified Doubles at the Tres Marias Dart Pub located at Gen. Malvar St. corner Agoncillo, Malate; the P20K Classified Doubles tournament tomorrow organized by Ms Genelyn Banes Guinoon in cooperation with Bar Grip at the Casa Muy Bien Bar & Grill at Ortigas Home Depot, Ortigas Ave. corner Meralco Ave., Ortigas Center, Pasig; and the P35,000 Barries Anniversary tournament, June 28 at the Barries Resto Bar located at 1771 LPL Bldg., Malugay St., San Antonio Village, Makati City.

Jojo Claudio of Toby’s Sports, Tito Soncuya of Robson Sports, Andy and Cora Mercado, national dart champions Flor Aldon and Renato Mauricio, Ernie Carpio, Chito Yacapin, Barry Nagallo and Reu dela Cruz are expected to play on June 25 on the Terton Craft Samurai Blade, official dart of the games.

Richard Yu of Frabel Interiorworld Phils. Inc. and Nautilis Inc. donated giveaway items for early registrants aside from the trophies and cash prizes for the winners.

The 5K Seniors Classified Doubles is set at 7 p.m. while the Classified Doubles will be held at 10 p.m. during the Cubie Ballesca Cup.

One of Japan’s best darters, Takahiro Miiyanaga, will be the special guest in tomorrow’s event at Bar Grip.
