MANILA, Philippines - Princess Superal fought back with a three-under 68 but fell four strokes off Canadian Jennifer Ha in the second round of the second Women’s Porter Cup at the Niagara Falls and Country Club in Lewiston, New York Thursday.
Superal, who fought back from five strokes down to edge P. Kanyalak of Thailand and win the Jakarta Junior Open last week, opened with a so-so 70 Wednesday but settled down with her game and strung up a pair of 34s in the second round.
The top ICTSI-backed bet actually went on a rollercoaster start of two birdies against two bogeys in the first six holes but birdied Nos. 8, 12 and 17 inside six feet to turn in that 68 card for a two-day haul of 138.
But the SEA Games individual champion, also the reigning Kuala Lumpur and Royal Selangor Open champion, fell farther back Ha, who sizzled with a 65 after a 69 for a 134.
Brittany Marchand, another local bet, matched Superal’s 68 to remain in second at 137 in the event, one of the most prestigious amateur (men’s) tournaments in the US which is holding the invitational women’s version for only the second year.
Pauline del Rosario, a Junior World champion last year, rebounded from a 77 with a one-under 70 but lay too far behind at 147.
