MACAU – Because of a Celine Dion concert at The Venetian, Manny Pacquiao’s next fight has been moved to Nov. 23.
Top Rank chief Bob Arum made the announcement last night at the main lobby of the gigantic hotel and casino where the Canadian singer will perform on Nov. 8.
Pacquiao’s next fight, against an opponent that has yet to be announced, has already been penciled for Nov. 16 at The Venetian.
“We’ve shifted the date. The Manny Pacquiao fight here will be on 22nd of November (US time). Celine Dion is going to perform here in the eighth,†said Arum.
The Top Rank chief is going to sit down with Pacquiao’s adviser, Mike Koncz, here in Macau this week to discuss the Pinoy boxer’s next fight.
Arum said whoever Pacquiao fights, the 35-year-old congressman will be guaranteed no less than $20 million.
“Manny can’t make less for any fight than $20 million,†said Arum.
Pacquiao has won two in a row after losing two in a row in 2012, and with an impressive win over Tim Bradley in their rematch last April his value has gone back up.
“So it goes up from there somewhere between $20 million and $30 million,†said Arum.
If Pacquiao makes $30 million, that’s equivalent to roughly P1.3 billion, the biggest ever in his career.
