MANILA, Philippines - Chiang Kai Shek College stamped its class by whipping its rivals in the opening of the Headstart Developmental Basketball League (HDBL) Freshgear Cup Interclub at the SGS gym on Araneta Avenue, Quezon City recently.
With Marc Calzado and Renly Bayquin taking charge in the early going, the Dragons demolished the Pace Academy side, 88-26, in the 12-under division of the tournament presented by Freshgear with Duralite and AXA Philippines as sponsors.
Calzado knocked down 17 points to pace four other CKSC players in double figures. Bayquin and Christian Gotolong added 14 and 11 points, respectively, while Ainsley Lor chipped in 10 markers.
Not to be outdone, CKSC’s 15-under squad also posted a 72-39 romp over Pace Academy with Joshua Ramirez topscoring for the team with 15 points and Jaylen Ang and Gershom Martes contributing 10 points apiece.
Equally impressive was St. Jude Catholic School, which drubbed MasterBox, 69-31, in the 15-under division of the tournament organized by Edster Sy with Willy Chan as tournament director.
