MANILA, Philippines - Top seed Luke Alquin Flores and Toni Raymundo won two titles each in the fourth leg of the 16th Head Junior satellite circuit national tennis annual age-group tournament-Visayas region at the Lapaz tennis courts in Iloilo City.
Flores dominated Fernando Arguelles in the 18-under class, 6-1, 6-4, then defeated Lorenzo Angelo Legaspi in the 16-under, 6-3, 6-2, for his second title.
Raymundo, also a No. 1 player in his age group, copped the girls’ 18-under crown over Mary Grace Zapanta, 6-2, 6-0. She also whipped Zapanta in the 16-under class, 6-4, 6-2, for her second crown.
The event, sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association, is supported by Smart Communications, Smart Sports, Chris Sports, Head Graphene, Toalson and Head, the official tennis ball.
In other results, No. 1 Joshua Angelo Regino blanked Matthew Alquin Flores in the boys’ singles 14-under class, 6-3 6-3, to bag the crown and Angelo Meijia trounced Marben Erl Mosquera in the finals of boys’ 12-under singles category, 8-6 6-3, to cop the crown.
Meijia also copped the unisex 10-under crown by beating Pete Andre Rodriguez in the championship round, 6-2 5-7 6-2.
Top seed Carlyn Bless Guarde walloped Shyryn Salazar, 6-4, 6-1, for the girls’ 14-under singles trophy, while Kiana De Asis vanquished Shyryn Salazar, 8-6, 7-9, 6-2, for the girls’ 12-under singles title.
The fifth leg is scheduled next week in Bacolod City.
