MANILA, Philippines - The University of Perpetual Help System Altas Perps Squad hopes to re-display its awesome form and showcase its spectacular routines in the Philippine National Games next month, eyeing no less than another victory and a berth in the International Cheerleading Championship in Germany.
The Perps Squad is coming off a series of successful campaigns and will be coming into the PNG meet with the proverbial momentum and oozing with confidence.
They racked up eight plums in collegiate meets and captured three golds and one silver in the Asian tournament recently.
Sporting a mix of silk maroon, gold and white, the 30-member squad dazzled and wowed its thousands of supporters with its performance to win its fifth straight NCAA Cheerleading crown at the MOA Arena.
The Las Piñas City-based Altas Perps Squad also represented the country in the recently concluded Asia Cheerleading Invitational Championship in Singapore and won three gold medals and one silver.
The Altas impressed the judges with their form and execution of tough routines to grab the spotlight in the competition that lured Asian countries.
The Altas Team Pilipinas came out on top in the coed premier, coed elite and coed group stunts categories and collected the silver in partner stunts event.
The impressive moves gave the Brig. Gen. Antonio Tamayo-owned Altas the distinction as the best performing school in the annual event organized by the International Cheer Union.
The squad handled by multi-titled coach Ruf Van Rosario tallied 248 points to beat Chinese Taipei’s Asia Pacific Institute of Creativity and Monster squads.
That should make them a top favorite in the upcoming PNG, which stakes the lone berth in the ICC in Berlin.
