MANILA, Philippines - Basketball teams from 15 DMCI Homes condominium communities vie in the fourth annual DMCI Homes Inter-community Summer Sportsfest, which got under way recently.
DMCI Homes Property Management Corp. vice president Anna Marie Ferrer officially opened the only property developer-initiated sportsfest at the company’s corporate office last March 15 with a number of teen and adult players living in DMCI Homes communities around Metro Manila in attendance.
Rosewood Pointe’s Thomas Que Jr., last year’s tournament’s mythical team member for senior division, lit the sportsfest flame while eighth-time NCAA cheerleading champion University of Perpetual Help System Dalta’s Altas Pep Squad performed an exhibition cheer dance during the inaugurals co-hosted by actress Jackie Lou Blanco.
Ferrer said the annual sportsfest has promoted more than athleticism and sports competitiveness among DMCI Homes residents.
“Sports is not always about beating a rival, rather maintaining the values of respect and camaraderie while working hard towards a goal-a value we proudly instill in our DMCI Homes communities,†she said.
The sportsfest also fulfills DMCI Homes’ objective of giving homeowners the sense of identity and belongingness to a DMCI Homes community, according to the company’s senior marketing manager Jan Venturanza.
This year’s sportsfest running until June has 14 teams competing in the senior division and eight squads in the junior category.
Cypress Towers and East Ortigas Mansions head the senior division Group A that includes East Raya Gardens, Magnolia Place, Riverfront Residences, Royal Palm Residences and Rosewood Pointe while Group B is composed of Cedar Crest, Mahogany Place 3, Morning Sun Townhomes, Ohana Place, Vista de Lago, and new entrants Rhapsody Residences and Siena Park Residences.
The junior division teams are East Raya Gardens, Magnolia Place, Riverfront Residences, Royal Palm Residences, Rosewood Pointe, Cedar Crest, Palm Grove Residences and Rhapsody Residences.
Cypress Towers topped the Junior division while East Ortigas Mansions ruled the Senior category in last year’s staging of the event.
