MANILA, Philippines - PLDT Home TVolution Philippines smashed Singapore, 25-8, 25-19, 25-9, to clinch the last quarterfinals berth in the 2014 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand yesterday.
The lopsided win was the Power Pinays’ second in five classification round outings in Group B, netting them the fourth and last spot in the quarters where they will play the winner between Hisamitsu Springs Japan and Nakhon Ratchasima Thailand, which are playing at presstime.
The victory also snapped a string of defeats to Tianjin Bohai Bank China, 25-15, 25-16, 25-17, Taipei City, 25-15, 25-12, 25-11, and Zhetyssu Almaty Kazakhstan, 25-21, 25-13, 25-21, in the last three days.
The Phl hurdled its opening day assignment against KSEB India, 25-17, 26-24, 25-16.
The Nationals, mentored by Sammy Acaylar, are hoping to improve, if not match, the country’s seventh place finish in the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship at the MOA Arena in Pasay City last week.
