Pupos, 8 others vie in Aussie swim meet

MANILA, Philippines - Martin Jacob Pupos, a 15-year-old senior at University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, joins eight other Filipino tankers vying in the Australia Swimming Championship set April 19-20 in Perth, Australia.

Pupos ruled the 57th leg of the Philippine Swimming League recently in Quezon City and was chosen by the committee as one of the country’s representatives in the Perth meet.

The UPHSD standout captured four gold medals and bagged two silvers to clinch the Most Outstanding Swimmer award in the 15-year-old boys category. He ruled the 200m individual medley (2:24.28), 100m freestyle (57.25) and 50m freestyle (26.48), and finished second in 50m butterfly (29.26) and 100m breaststroke (1:18.25).

“I’m very grateful that we have an athlete swimmer like Martin Pupos, who gives honor and pride to our institution. We wish him good luck and the Perpetualite community is always here to support him,” said UPHSD president Anthony Tamayo.
