Paris court hears Red Bull's appeal in fuel row

PARIS — The dispute resolution tribunal for motorsport is hearing Red Bull's case against the disqualification of Daniel Ricciardo from the Australian Grand Prix.

Ricciardo was stripped of his second-place finish, and the 18 points that go with it, in last month's race because his car exceeded the sport's new fuel-flow rules which restrict usage to no more than 100 kilograms per hour at any time.

Officials for the governing International Automobile Federation (FIA) ruled that Ricciardo's Red Bull "consistently" exceeded the fuel flow limit.

Red Bull appealed the decision, saying the flow sensors were faulty, and that limit is a directive rather than a rule and not enforceable.

The International Court of Appeal started to hear its case on Monday morning in Paris.
