Smart XI rips Globe, clinches TNG crown

Members, officials and supporters of Smart Football Club flash the No. 1 sign as they celebrate their victory in the TNG football tournament.  

MANILA, Philippines - Smart Football Club overwhelmed Globe Telecom, 8-2, to capture the TNG football crown at the Turf Field at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig recently. 

Smart players also received individual awards at the end of the match with the Manny V. Pangilinan-owned squad taking home the best goalkeeper, midfielder and defender honors.

The TNG Football Tournament was organized by property company The Net Group Philippines and counted among the participating teams Procter & Gamble, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Baker & McKenzie GSM, Deutsche Knowledge Services and the two leading wireless service providers.

The Smart Football Club is one of the 20 employee clubs in Smart, which encourages the workforce to live by the company’s “Live More” manifesto.

The all-employee team was led by skipper Johann Rabago, a compliance, solutions and services supervisor. The team also includes executives like James Bernas, head of the corporate wireless and Infinity sales department, and Patrick Belicena, head of the wireless network engineering department.
