MANILA, Philippines - Don Camaso fired 33 points as defending champion Judiciary trounced Department of Justice to stretch its win run to three in the UNTV Cup Season 2 at the Meralco Gym in Pasig City last Sunday.
The 6-6 Camaso took charge for Judiciary down the stretch and scored almost at will, giving the Magis a 98-90 bulge with a minute left in the contest and the lead in Group A with a 3-0 mark.
Former San Sebastian cager Paul Reguerra matched Camaso’s output but failed to lift the Avengers, who dropped to 0-2.
In the first game, Malacañang bucked the double-double performance of former PBA MVP Kenneth Duremdes as it pulled off an 81-75 win over Senate.
Slotman Greg Malapit led the Patriots with 17 points and six boards while guards Sec. Joel Villanueva and Marlon Berganio wound up with six assists each.
Duremdes delivered 31 points and 10 rebounds and his jumper gave Senate a 62-61 lead midway through the fourth quarter.
But the Patriots struck back and seized control then fended off their rivals’ fightback to snare the win, their first in two outings.
Senate took its second straight loss after kicking off its campaign with a victory.
