MANILA, Philippines - Former Philippine Weightlifting Association president Monico Puentevella has given up his post to work full time as Bacolod City mayor. He is succeeded by former secretary-general Roger Dullano.
Dullano, Puentevella’s long-time sec-gen, was elected president Friday in PWA elections in Bacolod City.
Dullano said the first order of the day is to unite all stakeholders in the association and focus on athletes’ training in preparation for future international competitions like the Southeast Asian Games and the Asian Games and possibly the Olympics.
“To unite and move forward for the betterment of the association, forget the differences and focus on our grassroots development program,†said Dullano.
“We will start focusing also on Hidilyn Diaz, Nestor Colonia and Jeffrey Garcia, who are our initial choices for the national team bound for the Incheon Asian Games this year,†he added.
