MANILA, Philippines - Rod Nazario’s In This Corner features a rare special in tonight’s edition as it airs the women’s 10-round bout between Gretchen Abaniel and Nongnum Mor Krungthepthonburi of Thailand over PTV-4 from 7 -8 p.m.
The match, presented by Ginebra San Miguel, San Miguel Beer, Purefoods, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and Petron, was for the vacant Women’s International Boxing Association (WIBA) minimumweight title.
The fight was held Feb. 7 at the Biñan town plaza gymnasium in Biñan, Laguna.
Abaniel, 28, is a native of Puerto Princesa and a former amateur boxing standout.
Ben McCulloch locks horns with Gavad Zohrevhand in the preliminary round set for six rounds. McCulloch hails from Australia, while Zohrevhand is from Iran.
