MANILA, Philippines - Xavier School beat Marist School in two fronts to bag the 10-under and nine-under boys’ crowns in the first Got Skills age group basketball showdown at the Xavier School Sports Complex in San Juan Sunday.
Kenneth Wong Chu King scored 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds to power the Golden Stallions to a 38-31 victory over the Golden Bears in the 10-under finals. King later bagged the MVP honors.
Patrick Napenas fired 16 points and snared eight rebounds to lead Xavier to the nine-under title.
The cagefest was backed by Chris Sports, SKLZ Philippines, Fitness and Athletics Company, No Curfew Watch Store, Wize and Ope Watch, and Goody Gulp Milk Drink.
Napenas also took the MVP plum.
Don Bosco Technical Institute held off Colegio San Agustin, 35-30, to clinch third place in the 10-under while La Salle-Zobel settled for third in the nine-under class with a 46-17 rout of CSA.
Making up the Mythical 5 in the 10-under division are Lance Oiga (Marist), Gabi Severino Tiongco (Xavier), Heinrich Quintong (CSA) and Rely Quintong.
Jacob Militar was No Curfew, Wize and Ope Watch League MVP while Joshua Edrozo (Marist), John Louie Salinas (Marist), Thomas Lu (Xavier) and Nathaniel Duncan Siao (Xavier) composed the nine-under mythical team.
Meanwhile, National University and Chiang Kai Shek College won over separate foes to reach the 13-under finals.
Rhayyan Amsali had 23 points for NU, which beat La Salle-Greenhills, 57-53, while Richmond King struck for 15 points in leading CKSC to a 55-53 win over La Salle-Zobel.
