MANILA, Philippines - Intense karting action returns as the country’s finest senior and junior karters dispute the major titles at stake in the “2014 Petron Blaze 100 KF Karting Super Series†kicking off Feb. 15-16 at the Clark International Speedway.
VJ Suba of Eagle Cement and Raymond Cudala of Tough Gear Racing hope to defend their titles in the KF2 and KF3 classes respectively as they gear up for tougher challenges in this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Petron, Petron Blaze 100 Euro 4, Petron XCS, Petron Ultron, Petron Xtra, Petron Sprint, and Yokohama, the official tires.
Strategy and endurance will play key factors in this kickoff leg as these karters will battle each other in two rounds of grueling action.
Bobby Domingo will be Suba’s toughest veteran rival for the crown but much of the focus will be on last year’s top three title contenders – Daniel Miranda of Cebuana Lhuillier, CJ Tsui of Formula E Racing and top lady karter Sacha Feliciano.
Miranda ended fourth in last season’s KF2 title race but much could be expected from the 15-year-old Cebuano ace after emerging the 2013 Karter of the Year.
Tsui was sixth but winning the Karting Super Series national crown makes him one of the karters to watch this year while Feliciano, who ended fifth place, vowed to stage a stronger fight for the KF2 plum this year.
Cudala, on the other hand, expects tougher challenge from Jaz Monzones and Gabriel Tayao Cabrera who ended runner-up and third placer, respectively, but Brian Thorp of AUTS Racing could get in their way along with Lian Linao and Sean Smith of CityKart.
The 2014 Petron Blaze 100 KF Karting Super Series had been an effective avenue to train karters for prestigious international competitions where fast and high-powered KF2 and KF3 engines are used.
The other legs will be staged at the Carmona Racetrack with the second leg set on March 8-9 for Rounds 3 and 4 of the series while the third leg is slated July 19-20 for Rounds 5 and 6.
