Phl Growee team to conduct tryouts

MANILA, Philippines - Five-peat Jr PBA champion coach Mark Herrera is conducting a tryout for a new batch of players, born 2000-2001, for the Phl Growee basketball team that will compete in upcoming international invitational tournaments.

The tryout is open to players from  both private and public schools.

“Even out-of-school youths are welcome since this is part of the grassroots program of the Growee Philippine team,”said Herrera, also the sports director of the AMA University.

The tryout will be held every Saturday and Sunday this February.

Fifteen players will be picked from four teams, each composed of 15 players, from the tryouts set at AMA University, San Juan gym, and other venues to be announced later.

The Growee basketball team recently competed and won in the Annual Thanksgiving Hoopfest in Guam and the Cebu elite Christmas Invitational tournament. Members of the champion team were QC Athletic Association MVP Yves Lazaro, Guam Hoopfest MVP Vic Baltazar, Kean Herrera, Gabby Angeles, Clint Escamis, team captain Gabe Laud, Raiden Salao and Von Hababag.
