MANILA, Philippines - Garvo Lanete came away with 20 points and keyed a third quarter NLEX breakaway as the Road Warriors rolled to a 93-68 romp over the Café France Bakers in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the JCSGO gym in Cubao, Quezon City yesterday.
Lanete went four-of-four in the third period as the Road Warriors stretched an eight-point halftime lead, 38-30, to a 20-point bulge, 69-49, heading to the fourth quarter.
NLEX shot 66.7 percent from the field (11 of 17) in the pivotal third and outscored Café France, 31-19.
It was the Road Warriors’ fourth straight win and seventh overall against a loss as they closed in on league-leading Big Chill (10-1).
Café France dropped to 7-4.
Earlier, Dennice Villamor hit a triple with a second remaining as Banco de Oro stunned Wangs Basketball, 83-81.
Cebuana Lhuillier demolished Arellano University, 89-71, in the other contest.
Wangs Basketball posted its biggest lead at 55-43 early in the third and the Couriers appeared to have the game in control when Macky Acosta made one of two free throws for an 81-79 lead with 6.9 seconds left.
