MANILA, Philippines - Alan Bumagat, Eric Gallardo and Inigo Raymundo turned in 50-plus scores as La Salle-Taft outslugged a short-handed Ateneo side in the Seniors division even as the La Salle-Zobel lasses widened the gap in the Girls 3 competition of the ICTSI-JGFP Inter-School Golf Championships in various venues recently.
At the Valley Golf and Country Club’s executive course, Bumagat made 56, Gallardo carded 54 and Raymundo chalked up 52 for their best output for a round of 162 that widened their lead to 48 points with a 619 total for four rounds in the nationwide series organized by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines with the major support of International Container Terminal Services, Inc.
Ateneo likewise came through with its best score so far of 156 on the 55 of Miguel Shah, 53 of Jama Reyes and 48 of Nicholas Dy-Buncio but still failed to scrape off anything from the commanding lead of the La Sallians.
Ateneo stood at 571, far ahead of La Salle 2 which was at 488, College of St. Benilde (468), Ateneo 2 (408), College of St. Benilde 2 (334) and La Salle 3 (197).
Over at the Capitol Hills Golf and Country Club in Diliman, Sophia Chabon sizzled with a 59 and Bernice Ilas backed her up with a 58 for their best score so far of 117, boosting La Salle Zobel’s overall total to 308.
The OB Montessori duo of Sophia Blanco and Annika Cayabyab had a 51 and 49, respectively, for a third round score of 100 and 252 overall.
Assumption College was third at 177 after a 74, ICA was fourth at 173 following a 49 while ICA 2 was fifth at 23.
Today’s schedule will bring the Midgets 2 field to Club Intramuros, the Girls 1 and 2 action to Ayala Greenfield, and the Juniors to Aguinaldo Golf Club. The Visayas leg of the ICTSI-JGFP Inter-School series, meanwhile, will be held today and tomorrow.
