Highlanders dominate WGAP Riviera leg

MANILA, Philippines - Tagaytay Highlands flexed its muscle once again, topping Classes A and B while placing third in Class B ruled by Aguinaldo in the penultimate leg of the 2013 Champion Infinity WGAP Circuit at Riviera’s Couples Course in Silang, Cavite last week.

Rebecca Albert shot 44 points under the Modified Stableford scoring system, Kim Hee Sun backed her up with 43 while Lee Eun Sun and Jung Hee Kyung added 34 and 33, respectively, as Highlands topped Class A with a 154, five ahead of Sta. Elena, which pooled a 149.

Forest Hills assembled a 133 and placed third followed by Villamor (129), Canlubang (127), Aguinaldo (122), Orchard (121) and Alabang (97) in the premier division of the event presented by Champion Infinity and organized by Women’s Golf Assocation of the Phils. (WGAP).

Sta. Elena’s Carmela Lee shot 40 points and took the individual honors in Class A while Highlands’ Lilibeth de Villa and Forest Hills Lilian Lu pocketed the Class B and C titles with 44 and 40 points, respectively.

Aguinaldo drew 42 points from Janette Agripa while Leni Cabili, Lizbeth Alcantara and Nitz Salivio scored 40, 35 and 33, respectively, as it ruled Class B with a 140 for a three-point romp over three others.

Sta. Elena again placed second with a 147, nipping Tagaytay Highlands in the countback. The Highlands, on the other hand, edged host Riviera in the countback to clinch third place honors followed by Alabang (142), Villamor (141), Canlubang (131), Forest Hills (124) and Orchard (121).

Deena Mendoza and Aloma Lopez churned out a pair of 40-point outputs while Erlinda Gamut and Josefina Bautista added 39 and 35 points, respectively, as Tagaytay Highlands routed the Class C field with a 154 total, 13 ahead Sta. Elena, which completed its own sweep of second place with a 141.

Alabang scored a 135 and nipped Forest Hills in the countback to finish third followed by Villamor (133), Aguinaldo (130), Canlubang (123).

It was another impressive finish by the Highlanders, who posted not just one but two sweeps of the three divisions this year – at Forest Hills and at home in Midlands – putting them on track for a repeat romp in the overall race.
