Ironman sets record listup

MANILA, Philippines - Registration for the 2014 Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines took just four hours to fill up all the slots last Oct. 1, setting a new record for the triathlon event that has taken the world by storm.

“It didn’t even reach 24 hours,” said Abe Cipriano, Asia Brewery’s AVP for marketing of non-alcoholic beverages. “In five years that we had the Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines, this is the first time that we got a mass of registrants in such a short span of time. Truly record-breaking in the history of Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines.”

Cobra Energy Drink and Sunrise Events Inc., hosts of the country’s premiere triathlon race, announced that the 2014 race registration took only four hours after they opened online listup last Oct. 1.

Last year, registration lasted for four days.

Next year’s race is set Aug. 3, 2014, triathletes from across the globe have flocked Ironman’s Philippine website to secure race slots for over 2,000 number of participants.
