MANILA, Philippines - A new archery center in Makati hopes not only to give players and enthusiasts a venue where they could further hone up their talent and skills but also to bring the sport closer to the people.
“By making archery accessible for more people to try (the sport), we are actually in the position to help single out and nurture talent that could give our country pride,†said Isay Roque, marketing director of Kodanda Archery range.
“This is, in a way, a grassroots program and we’re hoping that more athletes will choose it as their sport,†he added.
The Kodanda Archery Range is a seven-lane, fully air-conditioned indoor range located at the upper basement of the Makati Cinema Square in Makati,
It offers an hourly fee of P500 per person which includes the use of the range, equipment and gear, as well as basic coaching from expert instructors, headed by Syd Fraginal, a former national team mainstay and a SEA Games record holder.
For serious students, the center offers a P6,000 fee for 10, one-hour sessions.
According to Roque, the sport is also ideal for people looking for ways to relieve or deal with everyday stress.
“For some, the sport serves as an outlet with the exercise of targeting helping develop focus, which in the long run, can have a positive impact on one’s mental health and well-being,†Roque said.
With a function room that can accommodate up to 15 persons, the Kodanda Archery Range is also ideal alternative venue for social gatherings or corporate meetings.
